Recipe - Crock Pot Chicken & Dumplings

Sorry, I only had my iphone camera handy while I was cooking.

The chicken stock adds so much flavor

When ever fall approaches, I always get the urge to cook, bake and create things in the kitchen.  Today I woke up to grey and gloomy skies with mild temperatures, so instead of hitting the hardware store, I hit the grocery store.  But do not worry...I have have a great dresser project I should be posting tomorrow.

Here is my recipe for Crock Pot Chicken & Dumplings

2lbs chicken breast cubed
2 small onions diced
2 cans condensed chicken soup
2 cups chicken stock
1 8pc pack Grands Biscuits

Throw the chicken, onions, soup and stock into the crock pot.  I cooked mine on high for 2 hours, but you will need to adjust the time if you are cooking on low.

After two hours, check to see the chicken is finished and then cut each of the refrigerated biscuits into six pieces.  Add to crock pot and cook for another 30 minutes.

I found several recipes used chicken granules and water or chicken broth, which are fine.  But, if you haven't tried using stock you will be amazed at how much more flavor it gives you.

This recipe makes about 6 servings.
Enjoy!

  7. Hahahaha! I just saw all the comments about the sodium. There is a reason the title doesn't say LOW sodium or healthy. :)

  8. Why are my biscuits falling apart when I stir it?! Ahhh

  9. Cassie, are you waiting until the last 30 minutes to add the biscuits? I only stir them a couple of times when I first add them. Then I let the cooker do the rest for the last 30 minutes. The only thing I can guess is they are cooking too long or the brand you are buying is too "Flaky".

  11. Truck driver on the road, just got this going in the truck and smells wonderful. Added a small can of corn. Will have to pull over and add the Grands about half hour before I park for the day. Going to be good.....

  12. I used both cream of chicken and cream of mushroom and low sodium chicken broth. Can't wait to try as it smells amazing. I am hoping the biscuits will do well. I may have to make homemade dumplings once when I make it again!

    1. Just put the raw chicken cubes into the crock pot. Simple recipe and even better because there isn't too much to clean up after. Enjoy :)

  18. My biscuits did the same thing- after 1.5 hours they were still nothing but dough. If you are to cook them first, it would be nice for that to be a part of the recipe.....I have it in the oven now to see if Ican bake it, not holding out much hope for this recipe...looks like pizza delivery.

  20. I've had this in the crockpot since 6pm, and it's going on 11pm. I added the biscuits at 9, and it's 10:30 and they're still dough. It smells delicious so I certainly hope they cook!
