Well.  It's finally here.  The day I can officially say my laundry room is lovely.

Before I started to change the space into something that was not only functional, but nice to see...it took much planning.

The laundry room (which is the small little room between the kitchen and the garage) functions also as the pantry.  So, when I was planning the space I had to consider where to store my potato chips and my laundry baskets.

Here are a few BEFORE shots.

This was the place where my husband's work coats breed more coats.  I swear there were at least 20 of them when I removed that coat hook.

Nine foot ceilings means you can stack lots of stuff on top of these cabinets :(

View after I started removing some of the old trim.  Apparently, I had painted the room this horrible yellow color during one of my pregnancies.

I will be posting the details of the projects all week, but I couldn't wait to show you the completed room.  And now here are some of the AFTER pictures. 




I installed a metal backsplash for under $25 and built a counter top for around $35.

Instead of having laundry baskets blocking my path to the washer and dryer, they are tucked away in this cabinet.  No one will ever know I have dirty clothes :)



See...the path is clear!





Unfortunately, there wasn't much I could do about the tiny laundry room size, but I tried to get as much use out of the counter (for folding laundry) and the tall wall cabinets.



Added a roll out shelf for the kids snacks (easier for them to reach).

Rich wood tones, silver hardware and white.  My favorite.



This white wall is the one you can see from the kitchen so I made it as clean and simple as possible.





This light is so bright and functional for the entire 12x5 room.



Strategically placed fruit bowl to hide the hoses for the washer.





Cozy little decorations make it more enjoyable to visit and fold clothes.

This was where the old coat rack was hanging on the wall.  My daughter's new favorite spot in the house.



I used cedar planks for the counter. 



Found a small silverware caddy at the store today to use for incoming mail.  New rule - no mail on the counter.

I'm still in the middle of trying to decorate the pantry space, but I added a few canisters, baskets and jars for many items.

 

Instead of scraping the painted popcorn ceilings, I added plank paneling (hubs helped with that).

Thanks for checking in to see the new room.  I think I may change the dining room into an office/library next since we never use the dining room (and it is becoming the new hot spot of clutter).
